B. *Request Approval to Apply for a Non-Competitive CTE Teach Mentor Program Grant (overview) CTE Teach is a program that provides new teacher support to CTE teachers in K-12 districts, ROCP's, community college and charter schools. Teachers from all districts and ROPs in Santa Clara and San Benito counties are eligible to participate in the CTE Teach Program. The program will provide teachers with support and resources in the areas of classroom management, teaching strategies, curriculum development and project based learning methodologies. Administration recommends approval to apply for a non-competitive CTE Teach Mentor Program grant. (Dr. Angelica Ramsey)

D. *Request Approval of Amended Service Agreement-American Fidelity Assurance Company (overview) Health of staff and health of an organization are interdependent. In 2010, SCCOE developed a comprehensive wellness program to encourage staff to support overall well-being and to improve the health and productivity at SCCOE. SCCOE uses an online tool and program, The Vitality Program, to motivate and support staff to improve and maintain health. Administration recommends the approval of Amended Service Agreement-American Fidelity Assurance Company (Philip Gordillo)

E. *Second Reading of Revised Board Policy/Exhibit 5117, BP 5125 and Exhibit 5145.6 (overview) On June 17, 2015 the Policy Development Subcommittee met and approved the revision of BP/Exhibit 5117 Interdistrict Attendance Appeals, BP 5125 Student Records and Exhibit 5145.6 Parental Notifications. A. *Request Approval of Contract over $250,000 with San Jose Unified School District, Early Head Start
(overview) The Head Start Program is requesting Board of Education approval of the contract between SCCOE and San Jose Unified School District. This contract was included in the Head Start grant application for the 2015-16 funding year. The cost of this contract is $97,000 per year for a period of five years. Administration recommends approval of contract over $250,000 with San Jose Unified School District, Early Head Start. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan)

(overview) The Head Start Program is requesting Board of Education approval of the contract between SCCOE and East Side Union High School District. This contract was included in the Head Start grant application for the 2015-16 funding year. The cost of this contract is $194,000 per year for a period of five years. 10. INFORMATION ITEM
A. *Walden West Management Taskforce (overview) Walden West is an outdoor science school that is operated by the SCCOE and serves K-12 students. It's operated pursuant to EC Section 8760-8774. The California Outdoor School Association accredited Walden West in 2011 using the Regional Outdoor School Standards. The Walden West Management Task Force was formed by Superintendent Gundry on June 19, 2015. The Task Force is chaired by Mary Ann Dewan, Deputy Superintendent, and Manny Barbara, Vice President, Silicon Valley Education Foundation. The Task Force members are representatives from the community including staff, parents, specialists, law enforcement and school districts. The co-chairs will provide an informational report of the activities of the Task Force to date. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan)

B. *Follow-Up June 3, 2015 Charter Summit (overview) In accordance with the Settlement Agreement of the litigation tiled "Alum Rock v. SCCBOE et.al." the County Board of Education invited governing boards and superintendents of each school district within the County of Santa Clara to a Summit on June 3, 2015 regarding policy and procedures surrounding approval and operation of charter schools in the County of Santa Clara. The County Board will discuss the June 3 Charter Summit and implications for follow-up. (Dr. Angelica Ramsey)

C . *Success Rate in Community and Institutional Schools - Challenges and Academic Outcomes
(overview) Staff will facilitate a discussion about the current status of Alternative School Accountability in California. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan and Dr. Angelica Ramsey)

D. *Opportunity Youth Academy (overview) The Santa Clara County Office of Education is launching a drop-out reengagement program for Opportunity Youth. Opportunity Youth is defined as a student who is 16 to 24 years of age, who has dropped out of a traditional high school program and has not yet completed a high school diploma and is unemployed. The Opportunity Youth Academy will open on August 24, 2015 at three sites. Staff will provide a report about this new program. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan)
