B. *Request Adoption of Resolution Recognizing March as Arts Education Month for Schools in Santa Clara County and Recognizing Artspiration in Launching Community Support and Advocacy for the Arts through Education and Awareness (overview) Artspiration is a county-wide arts initiative that supports professional development, student engagement and arts advocacy. Administration recommends adoption of resolution recognizing March as Arts Education Month for schools in Santa Clara County and recognizing Artspiration in launching community support and advocacy for the arts through education and awareness. 4B Consent Action Item
C. *Request Approval to Accept Non-Competitive Grant for Executive Coaching (overview) Organizational Effectiveness (OE) funding from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation will enable ASAPconnect's Director and team members to receive executive coaching to increase engagement and productivity through a strengths-based leadership lens. ASAPconnect would receive $10,000 from the David and Lucile Packard Foundation from the 2014-15 program years. Administration recommends approval to accept a non-competitive grant for executive coaching. (Dr. Angelica Ramsey)
D. *Request Approval to Submit a Regional Grant Application for the California Career Pathways Trust (overview) The California Career Pathways Trust (CCPT) is a large scale innovative regional grant with strong employer engagement, including commitment to internships and job placement, throughout the education/training continuum. The Santa Clara County Office of Education Career Pathways Trust Consortium consists of West Valley College, Mission Valley College, DeAnza College, Foothill College, Gavilan College, Evergreen Valley College, Morgan Hill Unified School District, San Jose Unified School District, Santa Clara Unified School District, MetroEd, Campbell Union High School District, CreaTV, SVCreates, NVentum, TeenForce, Alternative Education, Opportunity Youth, Globaloria, San Jose History Museum and more. Administration recommends approval to submit a regional grant application for the California Career Pathways Trust. (Dr. Angelica Ramsey)
E. *Request Adoption of Resolution Recognizing February as Career Technical Education Month (overview) Career and Technical Education (CTE) provides students with a school-to-career connection and is the backbone of a strong, well-educated workforce. A. *Public Hearing on STEM Academy of Silicon Valley Charter School Petition (overview) On February 2, 2015, the Office of Innovative Schools of the Santa Clara County Office of Education received a charter petition from STEM Academy of Silicon Valley seeking approval to open STEM Academy of Silicon Valley Charter School.

7. ACTION ITEMS
A. *Decision on the Charter Petition for Voices College-Bound Language Academy at Mount Pleasant (overview) The Santa Clara County Office of Education, Office of Innovative Schools (OIS) received a charter petition from Voices College-Bound Language Academy at Mount Pleasant on December 19, 2014. This petition was submitted on appeal from Mount Pleasant Elementary School District, having been denied by the District's Board of Education on December 10, 2014. Within 30 days of receiving a petition, the Board must "hold a public hearing on the provisions of the charter, at which time the governing board of the school district shall consider the level of support for the petition by teachers employed by the district, other employees of the district and parents." (Ed. Code, §47605(b).) A public hearing was held on January 14, 2015. The Board must "either grant or deny the charter within 60 days of receipt of the petition." (Ed. Code, §47605, subd. (b).) B. *Request Approval of Contract Over $250,000 for Versifit Technologies LLC (overview) The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) DataZone District Data Linkage project will expand the current Versifit Edvantage Data Warehouse and Dashboard implementation already in place at the SCCOE Ridder Park site. This expansion will include all interested districts within Santa Clara County and will create the necessary linkages to support the FosterVision application, integrating student information system data from social agencies. Amount requested is $966,247 over the next two years. Administration recommends approval of contract over $250,000 for Versifit Technologies LLC. (Phil Benfield)
C. *Request Approval for the Submission of a Competitive Grant for the Education of Homeless Children and Youth (overview) The California Department of Education (CDE) has solicited a competitive Request of Application to financially supplement McKinney-Vento Programs. The McKinney-Vento Act protects the rights of children and youth experiencing homelessness ages 4-22. The Santa Clara County Office of Education (SCCOE) will submit an application to address the needs of students in both the local educational agency (LEA) and countywide programs. If funded, the SCCOE will receive $175,000 per year for three years. Administration recommends submission of a competitive grant for the Education of Homeless children and Youth. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan)

A. *Update on Governor's 2015-16 Proposed Budget (overview) On January 9, 2015, the Governor released his State budget proposal for 2015-16. Overall, it is a good State Budget for education. On January 29, 2015, the Business Services Branch administration provided the Budget Study Committee with an update on the Governor's 2015-16 proposed budget. (Micaela Ochoa)
B. *Head Start Monthly Board Reports (overview) As per the Head Start Act, all Head Start agencies are required to provide program information to the Board of Education. This reports covers November and December of 2014. (Dr. Mary Ann Dewan)
